Courses and workshops for Personal Wellbeing and Mental Health, Based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy / Training

These experiential workshops will teach skills that will empower participants to find new pathways to a more enriched life. The course aims to increase awareness of behaviours that limit life's opportunities. It enables people to deal with life's difficulties more effectively.

WHAT WE OFFER

"Your Life, Your Choice" is grounded in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/ Training).  ACT is a science-based psychological model that has been proven effective in treating conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, depression, stress, smoking, burnout, weight loss and performance improvement amongst others. ACT interventions have helped thousands of people improve their wellbeing and live more enriched lives.   

This course includes many skills including self-knowledge, compassion, values clarification and mindfulness. All of these components work together to empower participants to deal with difficulties more effectively. This course promotes long lasting behavioural change.

  •  We use tools to clarify what is fundamentally important to each participant.

  • We use short and focused mindfulness and experiential exercises.

  •  We promote self compassion and kindness to others. 

  •  We provide support and empowerment.

WHAT YOU GAIN:

You will gain some understanding about how the human mind works based on neuroscience and behavioural science. You will learn how the ACT psychological model can transform lives. 

Throughout the course, you will learn to slow down and appreciate what your possibilities are today. You will learn skills to enable you to deal with life's difficulties, so they have less impact on you and cause less suffering. 

You will identify steps and choices to move you in the direction that you want your life to go. 

Empowers participants to identify choices that move them towards the life they want.

You will have opportunities to explore and clarify your values and develop some goals guided by what matters to you. 

You will be encouraged to practise empathy and compassion towards others and yourself. You will explore self-care and experience empowerment for change​.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Total support for the duration of the course

  • Two hours per week of interactive work practicing set skills for five weeks.

  • Discussions to clarify the key components of the course.

  • Learning new skills to handle difficult thoughts and feelings

  • Clarification and discovery of what is important to you.

  • Practicing new skills between sessions for up to 10 mins per day.

  • This is an invitation to take ACTion to build a better life and your willingness to engage will make the difference.

Structure of the course:  

Five sessions (of 2 hours weekly) = 10 hours over 5 weeks.

Practice of the strategies and new skills in between session at a time that is convenient for you is required.

Delivery is by Zoom or face-to-face depending upon the group size and location.

Your Life, Your Choice will use experiential exercises to guide participants through the components of the course.
